Feel like your face is losing its glow? Maybe you’re noticing discoloration as opposed to the even skin tone you once had. Let me tell you.. Been there! After experimenting with various ingredients over the past couple years, I found my favorite, super easy, DIY recipe.
I use it at the first sign of a breakout (you know.. during that time of month), and when I feel like I need an extra glow.
I’m so excited to share it with you!
Creating this facial is super easy and will only take you a couple minutes. You don’t need any fancy ingredients. In fact, the answer to youthful, glowing skin could be as close as your kitchen!
Most at-home facial treatments that you can purchase include a bunch of random chemicals that, instead of allowing you to look more radiant, can actually age you.
There’s only four wholesome, beneficial, and natural ingredients in this easy, homemade facial.
This face mask can be used up to 3 times a week, or you can use it as an exfoliating scrub (with a simple addition) once a week.
I usually notice a difference after the first day of using this treatment, but everyone’s different! Either way, I think you’ll love it :).
*As with any new remedy you’re trying on your skin, be sure to conduct a patch test first:
Mix the ingredients together, then add a small amount to your inner forearm. Leave this on for about 20 minutes. If you have no adverse reactions, you should be good to go!
Here’s what you’ll need:
1 Tablespoon ground oats (gluten free or regular)
1 Tablespoon Greek yogurt
2 Teaspoons organic, raw honey
1 Teaspoon organic turmeric
The ground oats should resemble a flour-like texture like this:
Steps:
- Add oats to a processor and grind into a flour. You can add as many oats as you’d like in order for it to process properly and save the extra for the next time you try the facial.
- Add ground oats into a bowl
- Mix in 1 tablespoon of Greek yogurt, 2 teaspoons of organic, raw honey, and teaspoon of turmeric into same bowl.
- Apply to skin in an upward, circular motion.
- Leave mask on for 20 to 30 minutes. Rest and relax! You should try to stay in a reclined position =).
- Wash off with lukewarm water.
- Pat skin dry.
The mixture will turn out looking something like this:
As a scrub:
If you want to use this as a quick scrub, simply add a teaspoon of sugar and wash off with lukewarm water. My husband also gave me the great idea to use this as a scrub anywhere on your body that needs some exfoliation! It’s perfect!
Here’s how these ingredients will benefit your skin!
Oatmeal
I eat some form of oatmeal every morning for breakfast. Ok, I’ll admit it, I could eat some form of oats all day. I mean cookies, granola.. so many wonderful things you can create from it!
You can use gluten free or regular oats for this facial.
Not only are they delicious, but oats are a great staple for DIY skincare and are compatible with people of all skin types. They help even out your skin tone, but they’re also loaded with antioxidants (you know.. the things that keep you looking youthful)!
Greek Yogurt
The probiotics in Greek yogurt can tighten your pores, help get rid of acne, and are anti-aging! Talk about a triple threat! It’s one of the best defenses in discoloration for your skin as well.
I usually use Straus Family organic whole milk Greek yogurt because that’s what I always have at the house, but any Greek yogurt should work! Plain, whole milk yogurt will also work for this facial, but I find the Greek yogurt to be more moisturizing.
Honey
Honey is absolutely amazing for skin! It has so many wonderful benefits. It helps skin look more youthful, helps prevent and treat breakouts and acne, is super moisturizing, and every time I incorporate it into a facial, it leaves my skin with the loveliest glow.
I use the same type of honey I eat as I do on my face. The texture of this honey is not as liquidy, but it tastes incredible. Better yet, it’s organic, raw, local, and unprocessed! If it’s your first time trying this brand, you can try an 8 ounce first.
Turmeric
Turmeric is the spice of all spices in my life. By now, I’m sure you know of its incredible benefits as being a pain reliever, anti-inflammatory, and all-around healthy spice… but did you know it’s great for skin too?! YUP! Amazing I tell ya! Just as it acts as an anti-inflammatory in your body, it also helps to clear up acne caused by inflammation when applied directly to your skin. It’s anti-bacterial to aid in acne prevention as well.
Just like most of the other ingredients in this facial, it contains antioxidants to help keep you looking young and radiant. I use this brand.
All four of these ingredients are wonderful and anti-aging.
Get ready to glow!
Try it out and let me know what you think!
